As a qualified Foundation Phase and Educational and Learning Support teacher I have had many years of experience working with children and teenagers who present with learning difficulties, both in South Africa and in the United Kingdom. During this time I became aware of the emotional challenges that both the children/teenagers and their parents encountered.
I later studied an Honours degree in Educational Psychology and became a Registered Counsellor. This enhanced and developed my skills in the socio-emotional aspects of child development, enabling me to counsel both children and teenagers. I further pursued a Master’s degree in Expressive Arts Therapy through the European Graduate School in Switzerland.
I currently work in private practice as a Registered Counsellor with children, teenagers and adults. This includes working with physically and cognitively challenged individuals who may benefit from a counselling approach using the arts. I am registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and Board of Health Care Funders (BHF).
